Moonshire. A rural town outside of Fraerun, almost a part of it. The place was peaceful, green trees all around a wide clearing. In the trees there were homes, mostly those of Beast-People, Humans and Elves amongst them. The village was small, but the marketplace was known for the one thing that was much too expensive in the southern pirate islands of Micae, or in the former trading streets of Kurash lands. This area sold beautiful woven carpets, the loveliest in the world. It was usually a family business, one that was passed down through the generations. Taht was what Tomalin's family did. They bought carpets cheap here, and plenty of them, and they sold the masterpieces in far-off places.
That was the family business, but that wasn't what Tomi did.
Tomalin Anais was a performer. She sung from her heart, she danced like the stars, and she played. That was what Tomi did, and because she was the youngest, her parents didn't mind. Their only requirement was that she learned a little bit of how to control her Elven magics. So she'd taught herself a little sorcery, just a little, to help her music along.
In the middle of the open clearing she stood, with people watching all around her. Her light hair was tied back in multiple bows, her deep-ocean eyes dancing. White and black sparkling, stunning cloths made up a long robe in balanced light and darkness. Today she was singing about that balance. Putting a bit of her power behind her voice, she began, projecting through the square. Many stopped what they were doing and stared at her, dancing and singing in an intricate pattern, a mixing blur, until the black and white became a gray, until everything blended together.
Suddenly she stopped. The song was over. People looked around. What had that been? Was is done and through already? And applause rang out above the crowd and she bowed to those watching.

It had been quite the long afternoon for Arcanus. His Forest-Green robes slightly weighing him down in the crowd's heat. Why was there a crowd anyways? It wasn't usual to find one so thick! Being easily the tallest man out there, Arcanus took a look around to see what everyone was crowding around about. To Arcanus' surprise, it was a rather enchanting elf lady. A street performer, an elven street performer! "Well well, this is going to be interesting..."
When Arcanus finally emerged from his trance, he found himself clapping for this street performer. He always did enjoy a good bardic performance, this was simply one of those soothing moments he would remember vaguely, but enjoy none the less. The crowd splitting up a bit, Arcanus made his way foreword. he felt compelled to meet with the young performer. Young... he was young himself! A seventeen year old human to be exact. He really didn't have much right to call anyone young just yet. His hood having been pulled back to reveal his face, Arcanus emerged from the parting crowd, an amused grin on his thin lips. It appeared that he had quite enjoyed the spectacle. "Dear lady, you are truly quite talented in your art." After saying this, Arcanus bowed as a sign of introduction. He was partial to elven women, he wasn't sure why, perhaps their youthful looks, their unusual elegance and grace. there were many reasons, one of which he knew to be their aptitude with magic. Elves being naturally able to use certain effects were quite interesting to him, seeing as he was quite a hard working archmage. To learn their secrets,t o obtain innate abilities like them! That would be truly spectacular. "I am Arcanus Mahgus Khas, I'm sure you've heard a whisper or two of me? In case not, then allow me to introduce myself as the youngest archmage Lore has seen is three centuries!"

"No need to bow to me," the elven girl laughed. "And I'm not that good. I've seen better." She was definitely flattered. No one bowed to her, not little Tomalin. "Well, Arcanus Magus Khas," she continued formally, "I am Tomalin Anais, a simple bard who just happens to dabble in sorcery."
She thought for a second. She had heard the name before... of course! "I heard from a local that you were in town. They say you're quite talented. Perhaps the gods are on your side?" She smiled meekly pulling at the pretty fabric on her sleeve. Magnificent as it was, it itched dreadfully. It would be rude to go and change now, though. At the very least, Tomi decided to stay until this finished.
"By the way, " She added, brushing one of the ribbons out of her eyes, "Most call me Tomi. What brings you to Moonshire, mage?" Her green-blue eyes shone with curiousity. It was alwasy interesting to have a wizard around. People in the small village were mostly weavers, druids, or sorcerors like a few in her family.
The black and white was separated again in the ceasing of her movements. One side of the costume was black, the other white, both folding around her slender frame in their glittering, waving, distorted dance. Beautiful, but still unpleasant to wear.

"Even an Archmage like myself can travel to quiet districts and lose themselves in festivities like your little performance. As far as names go, by the way, most people simply call me Arcanus." Arcanus was a very observant individual. It wasn't hard for him to spot Tomalin itching to get those performer's clothes off her back. Didn't Arcanus know the feeling! His robes were rather heavy some times, even if he was young and fit. They weighed so much because of the magic imbued within them. As most people knew, if they ever took interest in researching, a mage's robes were usually enchanted. Also, each enchantment increases the weight of the robes themselves. His robes weren't heavily or overly enchanted, as some would think. The reason why they weighed , or at least seemed to weigh so much was dependent on the mage's wisdom. Arcanus being so young had the intelligence to run by, but not the wisdom brought on by age. One of his few draw-backs, also one he paid little attention to. "Tomalin, if you must go change out of those clothes, then don't let me keep you. I can see how they bother you with their material. Now go ahead, we'll most likely see each other once again before the sun sets." Arcanus disliked to keep people from their personal goals, much like he detested it when people tried to keep him from his own goals. As much as changing clothes may not seem like a goal, it was something Tomalin needed to be done. Bowing once again, Arcanus withdrew from Tomalin's immediate area and walked off. His next destination, the magic district. There he planned to buy new spell components and perhaps even a few new tomes! He always did enjoy when he received new books to categorize and look through.

"Wait," Tomi said. She still wanted to talk to him, as much as she wanted to get out of the ridiculous outfit. "If you can tell me where you'll be, I can try and meet you there later. Then we can talk." She smiled.
Not many people were that observant to notice the discomfort those clothes gave her. Everyone assumed that she wanted to wear the funny things, awkward as they were. It was also pretty obvious that he actually, sincerely wanted to talk to her. After all, most people just walked up to ask for congratulations and then run away.
She shifted the hem of the multitude of skirts, ready to be off as soon as she got her answer. She'd met very few mages before... two of them had been boring old men who slept most of the day away, coming to Moonshire for peace and quiet. This was an interesting person to meet.

Tomias slowly plodded along the road, exhausted and thoroughly bored. His great poleaxe was currently being used as an aid to keep himself upright, his entire weight on it as he slumped against it at almost every step. The world seemed to stop moving around him, his mind fooling him and telling him that he wasn't actually getting any closer to the pathetic village that lay in front of him.
A farming village. How sweet.
It was a shame that Tomias didn't really want a small village. He wanted a large town with great walls and a gate. He also wanted a horse so he could ride magnificently into the towns and villages like he did in so many of his tales.
He slumped heavily against the shaft of his poleaxe once more, the end digging into the rough surface of the road. A sigh escaped his lips as he wearily studies the town before him, his hair ruffled by the wind whilst his light and tattered cloak billowed out to the side.
"A dramatic entry... Hmm..." he murmured to himself, remaining leant against his weapon as he thought of a good way to enter. Something to catch peoples' attention.

Arcanus paused in his step. Had he heard correctly? Did Tomalin wish to speak with him further? Well, he would allow it, if only because he was fascinated by her. Turning about to face the elven lady, Arcanus smiled and made to speak. "I will be at the Inn a few blocks down from here. As for me and you'll be admitted to my room. I have a few studies I wish to complete, but please drop by when you can." On that note, Arcanus snapped the fingers of his right hand, causing a small, dove-like trinket to appear, floating above the palm of his left hand. With a gentle blow, the trinket flew over to Tomalin and landed gently on her shoulder. With a chuckle of amusement, Arcanus left for the inn.
It didn't take him long to set up within his room at the inn. He merely sat at his large, ornately carved, wooden desk, books open and quill out. He was taking notes of certain events, magical history and such, so it seemed. All this simply led to the belief that he was experimenting on creating a new spell!

Tomi looked at the little thing on her shoulder in awe. As she turned and ran to change, she laughed behind her, "I'm glad you enjoyed the performance. Goodbye for now!"
Upon entering her little room, she quickly freed herself of the silly garments and donned something much more comfortable- an everyday outfit. A loose white cotton shirt, with a long, dark blue skirt and a sleeveless jacket of the same material. After tying up her hair with a blue ribbon, she placed the little trinket on her shelf, in a safe place.
Her sister walked into her room, eyes wandering over to the thing on the wall. "What's that?" she asked, "Some silly token?" She laughed and walked over to the thing, picking it up.
"Don't touch it!" Tomalin exclaimed, running over to her sister and snatching the thing from her hand. "It's not yours!"
The older girl snorted. "Silly girl. What would I want with such a stupid thing?" She headed out the door, flipping her hair.
Tomi cupped the trinket in her hand, placing it in a little jewelry box on the shelf and locking the box. "It's not silly," she whispered to herself. If it was silly, her sister wouldn't have been interested in the first place. She walked out the door, slamming it. Her sister was a horrible person. She couldn't ignore the woman. Who ignored their own sister? She hadn't the anger for anyone else.
Tomalin walked to the Inn, hoping her mood wouldn't spoil her entire day. Inside, she asked the keeper for Arcanus.

The noon sun beat down on a figure as her boots clicked upon the pebble floor of the village, her cloak's hood protectively covering her face as she walked on. Yasuraka had been traveling around the country, for no reason and had come upon this small village of Moonshire. She lifted her head slightly, her deep blue eyes gazing around the crowded streets.
So ... this is Moonshire? She thought as she continued walking.
She had been traveling for several days now, and figured it would be time to rest. Her eyes searched for a placed to stay, and spotting an inn, walked toward the entrance, avoiding collision with other wanderers on the streets.
Yasuraka pulled her cloak off her head, revealing her long brown hair as it flowed down her back. She brushed her hair aside as she stepped into the inn. It was cooler inside than it was outside, and for this, she was grateful. She approached the owner, or the person that seemed to be the owner and asked to rent a room.
After having gotten her room, she went to where they served lunch and ordered some food, sitting at an empty table, since most of the other tables were already full. Yasuraka took the arrow off from her back and placed it against the table, relieving the weight as she took a sip of her drink and silently watched the others around her.
For the past 3 years of her life, she had been traveling, and yet she still not found a purpose to just... stop. She thanked the waitress as she was given her food and ate.

Tomias let out another sigh before setting a determined look on his face. His clothes showed weeks worth of the grime of wandering, his jaw looking scrufffy and unshaved just like his hair - although he didn't shave his hair normally. Overall he looked like he had been dragged backwards through a muddy river before being dumped on the road that led to Moonshire. His clothes were rather damp actually, but that was more from rain that a river. His clothes always took a long while to dry out when he was wearing them - but he never really though of removing them to let them dry.
He plodded in between the houses with an almost dead expression, his eyes half closed and his face long. In truth it showed his weariness of travel, although Tomias thought himself walking over a hundred leagues without stopping.
Hah, I'm a greeaaat hero now aren't I.

It had been about an hour since Arcanus started his research and study. Now he found that his door was being rapped upon. His guest had arrived. With the slightest gesture of his hand, the door's lock clicked and the handle turned. It took mere seconds for the door to open, reveling the archmage huddled over his work. "Tomalin, so glad you could make it. Please take a seat, I'll be with you in just a moment." Arcanus' tone was pleasant. He had been wanting to speak with Tomalin for a while now, partly why he hadn't advanced too greatly in his afternoon work. Now that she was here, he could feel a new air to the room. Not quite waiting for her to enter, Arcanus stopped the innkeeper with a motion of his hand and made to speak. Finding his throat somewhat dry, he pulled up a near-empty glace of water and drank the remainder. Setting it down and grinning, Arcanus began to speak. "Inn-keep, would you please fetch me my dinner? I know it isn't all that late in the day, but I'm feeling a bit peckish now." On that note, Arcanus went back to his studies. The door would shut after Tomalin entered, his magic would make sure of that.

Tomalin entered. She was still a little shaken up by her sister, but her mood had lightened significantly since then. She sat in a little chair. "You get the nice big room alright," she laughed as she looked around. It was obviously the room of a wizard, from where Arcanus sat at his desk to the books in various other places.
She heard the door creak shut. Magic again. Some tiny part of her whispered to Tomalin. You could be that powerful one day, with your sorcery, if you tried. She waved that thought away, as she did with the other voice that told her, Or you could be a great performer.
She waited for Arcanus, and verntured to ask. "What exactly are you working on?" She was curious about these things. She adjusted her skirt, so it wasn't all underneath her, and it flowed around her slender frame.

"I'm working on a new spell I wish to show the conclave later in the year. I hope to be done by then..." Arcanus was indeed working hard on his new spell. He wanted to be sure it's effects were similar to a few other spells, clearly this was difficult. He poured over his notes, his books, his tomes, always looking for the phrases needed. Every so often he'd look up from his books for a few seconds and then go back to taking notes and such. Soon he was done for the day. Enough time and energy had been used, and he had a guest now on top of it! Hearing the door knock again, Arcanus snapped his fingers and allowed the innkeeper and the food he brought to enter. "Thank you inn-keep, I'll have the plates brought back down later." The innkeeper bowed and left in silence. Most people didn't enjoy speaking with magi, mainly because most magi didn't enjoy speaking with people. Why? Magi were renown for their intellect, those they found beneath them were those who couldn't match this intellectual level. Arcanus was unlike them, so it seemed. He was younger, more open to the 'unwisened' community and readily accepted many manners of speech. His more favorite of the many musical languages was elven. And that reminded him, he had a guest to attend to! "I hope you're hungry, I made sure there'd be enough for two. And after the performance I saw earlier, well, I'm sure you're at least a little hungry?" Arcanus lifted himself and brought the large tray of food over to where Tomalin sat. There was a nice table he had set up there, all that was required was for it to be moved a little. With just a swish of his hand, the table lifted off the ground and hovered to where it was needed.

"I couldn't..." Tomalin answered. Her eyes widened a bit, showing deep oceanwater surprise. Sure, she hadn't eaten in awhile, but she didn't like to impose. She wouldn't... but her stomach betrayed her, letting out a low rumble. She silently cursed it for being so forward.
Normally, the elven girl would only accept such things from family, or from a very close friend, and even then she insisted on paying them back. Usually it was a few free drinks at any tavern she was playing in. Sometimes it was a gift. But she couldn't possibly accept it now. Tomi didn't want to be a burden.

"Tomalin, you're my guest, I insist you have something. I don't mind, really. I can see that you don't want to impose, but trust me, I wouldn't have offered if I didn't think I had ordered enough. Actually, I wouldn't have had the meal brought up until after we finished our chat." Arcanus waved his hand absently and watched as the plates and utensils set themselves. It was rather magnificent how he could so so much with barely a thought. Clearly he had been practicing for quite a long while. Sitting down at the opposite end of the table from Tomalin, Arcanus had the tray of food set itself down in between the emptiness before them. The lid was removed to reveal quite the elegant meal. Ham, corn, peas, potatoes, all looking so delicious! And then there was the matter of drinks. Arcanus took care of this by snapping a finger. Two goblets floated down from the cabinet on the far-end of the room. Following them was a bottle of red wine. Arcanus was quite the host, perhaps he was trying to impress Tomalin? It was a possibility, and so were many other things too. "Please, feel free to take what you'd like."
