"I'm sure all of those little mages would find you fascinating," she said with a laugh. Most likely they'd all ask about everything there was to know about being a phoenix.

"They'd probably be too busy poking their noses in their scrolls and books," she replied, joining in the laughter. "If I really do get to go out, what do you want me to bring back for you?"

"You know, if you could find one..." she said, voice getting quiet, "I've always wanted an elven made bow."
Flare was known to be an archer to contend with, and a bow would be just the thing for her.

"Just like you, ey, Flare?" she commented, chuckling. "If you come up here at sunset . . . well, let's just say it leaves an impression, no matter how many times you see it."

"I should try, then." She could help thinking, while on the subject of bows, how nice a place this would be to practice.

A bright silver speck caught Shirora's attention. Smiling, she grabbed Flare by the hand, lifted off from the outcrop, and headed for the tunnel entrance.
"It seems Lord Illidion's coming home," she commented, pointing to the ever-growing speck. "How about we greet him at the door?"

Flare smiled widely. "Of course." She was always eager to see Illidion when he returned, and even to hear of his stories.

Illidion had returned from a quick flight. As he always did when he returned from abroad, he checked the Phoenix Map for any new happenings. Often he would return and then leave again almost immediately. At times when he was free he would got to the top of the Three Sisters volcanoes and cause them to erupt and control the flames in a beautiful light show. Then cool them and let them fall to the earth as ashes. This time when he returned he knew he was going to have a long day. What he saw in the southeast astounded him. "No.... it can't be..." There was a cloud of dark smoke forming over Vieera. "It can't have regained that much power already... Flare! Shirora! Quickly!"

She heard the urgency in his voice and was there almost immediately.
"My Lord?" she asked, curtsying briefly.

It was obvious enough to Flare that something was wrong. What could have possibly happened to upset Illidion so much? It must have been a great shift in the balance of some sort. "What's wrong?" the gold asked at his side, worry evident on her face.

"Vieera, look it's covered in black clouds. That hasn't happened in centuries." The cloud of smoke began to flash with inner bolts of green flames. "Archeron...."

Shirora bit her bottom lip nervously.
"What are your orders, My Lord?" she asked, trying hard not to let her voice shake.

"Nothing... for now we can't do anything. That cloud blocks our flames and magic. Deathrain mountain no longer breaths fire and ash. Now all that it releases is black poison and acid. We can only wait until the crystal stops it's energy release. Archeron would have anticipated our attacks." Illidion frowned. "We could... employ mortals to go in there."

She stared at him in horror.
"Illidion, you can't be serious!" she called him by name-only when she was upset. "Send mortals?! They wouldn't be able to go near the mountain! They aren't immune to the poisons!"

"That and the fact they wouldn't trust us enough to do such a thing, anyhow," Flare hissed. This was awful. She believed Archeron was a fool for what he'd done before, and a threat for what he was doing now.
