Dragons are the other main race of A'Dense. These ancient and noble beings are the heart of law and source of wisdom and intelligence in the world.
First of all, dragons come in many colors, representing the alignments of their race.
Gold Dragons: Lawful Good
Silver Dragons: Chaotic Good
Opal Dragons: Neutral
Ebony Dragons: Lawful Evil
Ruby Dragons: Chaotic Evil
Dragons are not necessarily the alignment that they are born into, and crossbreeds create a variety of wonderful shades and colors (amethyst, mica, emerald, etc.). Dragons colors are those of gemstones or minerals.
Another interesting feature of dragons is that A'Dense dragons are not usually in their draconic form. On the contrary, dragons most often are in a semi-humanoid form. In this form, they sport a patch of scales in a ringlike pattern on their right arm. The colors of these scales will show a dragon's pedigree, to some extent. Pure shades and colors of rings show a pure-blooded dragon. Crossbreeds will show multiple colors depending on their heritage. The smaller the ring, the further in history the relative, and the less blood of that dragon breed running through their veins. The largest rings will affect the dragon's characteristics the most. At the age of five and above, their human form also has a second mark similar to their dragonrings across the small of their back. Patterns of each stripe represents a different clan, and therefore these marks will identify the family of a dragon. A few in A'Dense even make a living from the study of these marks.
Once a dragon has reached age five, they can use two other forms. The first, a reptillian form, is that of a human with dragon characteristics. These include wings, scales instead of skin, catlike eyes, and sometimes even a tail.
The second is the one we most commonly associate with dragons, and the least used. The draconic form is mostly used in battle, save for a few other purposes.
Dragons in their humanlike form are slightly two inches taller on average than a human being. Dragons live to be about 500 years old on average for a mixed breed and 1000 for a pure Gold, Silver, Opal, Ebony, or Ruby.
Through special training, a crossbreed with another race may acquire a draconic and reptillian form. A crossbreed also still bears the dragonring. If a half-blood achieves these forms, then they are therefore widely accepted, except for the most conservative dragons, as a dragon themselves.
