"That's it all right, or my name isn't Terasha Kurash." The black waters. Here they were, heading straight in, already an inch through. Her eyes as she looked into the water seemed to reflect the water below them. They were that same deep, dark, endless blue. That almost black shadowy indigo. She was almost hypnotized by this odd sight, didn't even seem to notice they were moving, and for a few seconds into it didn't even notice the soud coming from the point which was now passing across the line where dark navy met crisp, clear, light blue. She looked up to where it was coming from, startled.
A high pitched screech eminated from that same spot where Terasha was staring, and a girl of seventeen was bent over, midnite hair hanging in her face, ears covered by her hands. Terrace was screaming in pain, the horrible pain passing through to Tefenus seemed to be causing her for no apparent reason, taking no notice of Zeke stading helpless nearby, trying to figure out what was srong with her.
It was obvious enough. She couldn't think straight, but her could figure it out. There was something there meant to keep out gods and goddesses. And Terrace had Xyla's blood. She was half a goddess. And so, it tried to keep out that half.
"The hell's going on?!" Shouted a tiger beast-man running up from below decks, double-bladed sword drawn. Something was up. And he intended to find out what it was.

((*gasps* Blake has erturned from the Nowherelandofyunusedcharacters!))
Blue landed on the deck from her spot as look out when the screaming started. "What is going on! Did you see something?" She asked the screaming girl. She doubted it, the girl seeing something Blue had not, but this place was different from anywhere else she had been and she would be certain to stay on her toes.
Dre had been below napping while he could when he had jerked awake and felt odd. It was as if he had had a warm, tight blanket on him that had been jerked off leaving him exposed to the cold air, but he wasn't really cold, just feeling odd. What in the world had happened? Then he heard screaming. Dre rushed on deck to see Terrace screaming her head off. "What the bloody hell is going on!?" He roared above the noise.
River had felt it coming. She was sensitive to things involving water. She braced herself as they crossed into the black waters as if they were sailing into a wall. She knew it would affect any of those with ties to water or the gods. She shivered as they crossed it. Last time she had been here was with her father and she had felt the same. As if all the happiness and joy had been sucked out of the world and she was left as a husk. She had forgotten how much this place affected her and how much she hated it. When she realized what that noise was she turned around from her side of the deck to see Terrace screaming. She muct be very strongly connected with a god to be in that much pain. River knew she should offer her help and walked over lifelessly. "We can't do anything for her but hope the god's hold relanquishes. It would help a little to take away anything that is related to the gods though." She said dully.

((*double gasp* You are correct. He was hiding from Blue, most probably. But here he goes, disappearing again for the post.))
Terrace had finally stopped screching as the part of the ship where she was standing passed completely through. She leaned against Zeke for support. It was time to spill her guts. After all, she had to explain what was going on. "It's..." she panted heavily, still breathing hard. "I can't.... Zeke...." It wasn't hurting so much now that she'd made it through, but she was still having trouble.
He took the hint. She was out of air, and tired to boot. Something was definitely wrong. "She can't get rid of it, miss River. It's in her blood. Xyla is Terrace's mother. She probably even knew this was going to happen." The last comment came out as a hiss, a sign of their mutual hatred for the goddess for interfering in their lives so many times.
Terasha looked away from Terrace when she'd finished screaming. There were enough people around her. Suddenly, she was something. Out it the water. It looked like... bubbles? No. "There's something out there," she half-whispered to no one in particular, and flew out there to get a closer look. She was close to it now, she could see a bit, under the surface of the water. There was something attached to those bubbles. And it was something with a very large shadow.

River turned away from Terrace frowning. She could hear something, what was it? "Must kill, kill alll who enter on ships, order to kill, must kill them all, no trace remain, kill kill kill" "Ummm, guys..." River said quietly turning away from where she heard the voice. "I think we may be in trouble."
Blue stumbled as something crashed into the ship. "What the-" Suddenly a huge serpentine head lifted from the water. "A sea serpant! Oh great."
Dre looked at the creature then saw Terasha in the air near it. "TERASHA!!" HE jumped over spreading out his huge dragon wings and flew toward her to take her away from the danger."
Rhapsody had been below as usual when something had shaken the ship. She had been in the room where it had happened noticed a crack in one of the windows. That was going to be a big problem if it shattered. She ran up to the deck to tell someone and saw the huge serpent. She wanted to scream but was too scared.

Terasha could do nothing but stare as head, body, and a large tail with grotesque spikes apeared above the water, all with a great deal of splashing and thrashing. Her awe was only broken by Dre's voice interrupting her thoughts of, What is it? and How strange, which suddenly turned onto one subject at being brought back to reality. That subject, of course, was survival. Get out of the way. But by then it was too late. She might have missed that angry weaponlike tail's wrath if only she had a few more seconds, but it left four deep gashes along her arms from the longest ones.
Zeke and Terrace both felt the boat's lurch as the monsterous creature slammed into the ship. Though his charge was too tired to get up and look for the cause of the mess, he wasn't. What he saw, though, was an awful unnatural head, that of the sea monster, appearing above the water.
"What is it?" Terrace asked, uncertain she wanted to know. She could feel the fear from others on the ship, mostly that of Rhapsody. And whatever it was obviously enough wasn't friendly.
"Trouble," Zeke said simply and honestly.
After almost falling over from some sort of collision, Blake raced to the side of the ship, blade in hand. Whatever it was was just asking for a fight, and he was ready to give it. (Not that he ever wasn't ready for that sort of thing.) There were two problems. It was big, and the parts closest to the boat was under water. No matter how many people were on this vessel, the sea serpent had the advantage.

Rhapsody felt something odd happening to her. She looked at her hands and saw them glowing softly but getting brighter. "No no no no no!" This would happen when she got too scared her powers would surface, but she had no control on what they did. So far she had been able to keep her powers hidden from the others and didn't want that to stop. She hid her hands under her armpits but it was no use, the glow was spreading to the rest of her body and soon she was completely aglow in bright white light. "STOP!!"
Blue analyzed the situation carefully. There were 9 people on board, one was already injured and 2 didn't seem like they could be of any help unless the naiad talked the serpant out of it. 5 had wings and could fly directly at the head but as she had already noted 2 of them would be unable to help. There was a mage but he mostly dealt with plants and healing, not much good. The other mage though her magic did not seem strong had been hit already. Errrr, their chances were very slim but they didn't really have a choice.

((Parents. I know how it is. ^^)
Terasha couldn't help it. For the first time, her wings were failing her. She was feeling awful. Her head was spinning, she could barely think straight. And she knew exactly why. She called out, "Poison," all she could. And then she was falling. Down, down, down she went.
Terrace tried to survey the situation, standing up gorggily and clutching the side of the ship for balance. There was something wrong with Rhapsody, Dre was going after the quickly falling Terasha, Blue was concentrating on the situation at hand, probably forming a battle plan. Zeke was at her side, scolding her at her attempt to get up and help, then there was Blake staring over the side of the boat like an idiot, perhaps looking for the best way to hit the thing attacking him. River was there somewhere, doing she wasn't sure what, and there were still those she couldn't see. "Zeke... go try to see what's wrong with Rhapsody. Something's not quite right here." She turned to face the water. "I'm going to see if it's afraid of anything....." Her face was grave, calm as she tried to be. She had to do whatever she could, like it or not. Her midnight-colored hair now towards Zeke, she didn't even wait for an answer. It was time to crack this beast.
Zeke opened his mouth to protest, but seeing the determined look on Terrace's face, knew better. He simply nodded resigned and turned around at a loud "STOP" only to see a blinding white light where Rhapsody had stood moments before. There was definitely something wrong with her, but he didn't see how he or anyone on this boat was going to be any help. "Kiari above," he breathed, only able to watch and hope for the best.

River was trying to talk with the thing, get it to leave them alone but it seemed like it couldn't hear her. It kept saying over and over "Order to kill on on ships, must kill them all, kill all or die, kill till die or die, kill kill, must kill." She sighed and gave up. "It's no good! It won't leave us alone till we kill it."
Dre beat his wings faster and faster trying to catch Terasha before she hit the water. Just a little closer, a little further...There! He had her! Skimming across the water they had almost hit he flew back to the ship and landed infront of Zeke. "Can you do anything for her?!" He asked desperatly.
Blue watched everything with a cool eye and thought she had things under control in a way till Rhapsody started to shine brighter than the sun. But it went to her advantage and as the distracted serpant turned she flew in and plunged her dagger into it's eye. She quickly flew back but was caught by the whipping head and knocked painfully onto the deck. "Can someone get the other eye!" She shouted as she looked around for another weapon to use. If they could get the other eye it would be blinded and they would have a batter chance of surving this.
Rhapsody was unable to hold it in, all the power came flooding out making her continuously shine. She was lost in the flood of power. Her conciousness retreated into herself as another power rang from her blood. Rhapsody began to get bigger, much bigger. Her wings changed and her nails grew long and sharp. In a few minutes she was in the shape of a large blue dragon with a few white feathers on her wings. Her eyes were red with rage as the dragon lunged itself against the serpant, long claws tearing into it. Sometimes she would back off and shoot beams of hot light at it for in her basest instincts she had somehow gained control of her power.

Terasha didn't even seem to know what was going on, she was so out of it. All she could do was mumble. At least that was something, some way to prove to herself and everyone she was still there.
Rhapsody seemed able to take care of herself for now, that was obvious, and so Zeke had no need to help her. But this, this was something he at least could try to fix. "I can try," he answered, already getting his collection of healing herbs ready. He never went anywhere without them. Even then difference between below and above decks could mean a life, especially in the Black Waters. He looked at Terrace's arm. "It's not deep, like it's meant for, and he, or it, barely grazed her. From the looks of it this stuff would be deadly if he bashed her like he meant to. If I can get these herbs on her before she dozes off, she'll have a good chance. But she needs to cooperate. If the arm's elevated the contaminated blood will have and easier time rushing to her heart. And it'll be better to know what's going on with her, if she's not too dazed to tell," the whole while Zeke said this, he was pulling various herbs out of his pack. Everything he would need, plants to draw out the poison, a cloth to wrap the wound, more leaves and flowers that were painkillers, others for symptoms.
What is he afraid of? There has to be something... Terrace told herself. Whatever it was, it had to be deep. She couldn't sense a thing yet, and wasn't sure if she was ever going to. Doesn't this thing ever get scared?
Blake lunged as an arm came up over the side of the ship, hacking at it, the sea monster already howling in pain after Blue's number on its eye. He slashed again as two more came at him. At least there was a bright side. The thing was almost as dim as him, and it hadn't thought to stop trying for the top and turn all of its attention to the bottom of the ship. Unless it was distracting those on board.... "Works for me!" He yelled as River announced the only way was to destroy the thing.

Rhapsody was growing tired, she could feel it like a little buzz in her mind. Everytime she lunged in or blasted it with magic the buzzing grew louder. After one bolt she paused and shook her head trying to clear the buzz away. That had been a mistake. The serpant slammed against her knocking her onto the deck. Luckly the blow had made her untransform as she fell into unconicousness otherwise she might have sunk the boat. Instead she dangled half over the other side of the deck since she had been so small she could slip through the railing.
"Thank the gods." Dre sighed in relief then he looked at the serpant and a bestial growl came from him. He would kill anything that dared to hurt Terasha! He transformed smoothly into his more draconian form. He was much larger then Rhapsody being a fully grown dragon. He took off and placed a good scrath along the thing's other eye. "You will pay for what you did!" He roared at it before lunging again and reopening one of the cuts Rhapsody had given it, making it deeper and wider.
Blue tried to take off upon finding a weapon but was brought down painfully. Errrg, the stupid fall must had sprained her wing. Well she could still help! "Yo princess! This thing have a weakness?!" She said as she came neck to Blake looking for a place to strike.
"Ah, um." River thought fast trying to remember what she knew of sea serpants. "Well their eyes are easy to hit!" Blue glared at her. "But you already know that heh, well um, oh yeah! They are extremaly sensitive to heat!"
"So helpful." Blue said. "What are we gonna do? Biol the ocean!"

Terrace's eyes widened. Now that was an idea. "Heat as a weakness? River, do you think perhaps it has any sort of fear of heat?" she asked, while trying at the same time to pinpoint if it did. If she could find that fear.... then perhaps boiling the ocean was a possibility. Or fire. Fire worked.
"Well, we better figure out something. It's not going to help to just sit here and slash at the thing all day if it doesn't seem to be letting up. We'll all get tired out before long. His eyes wandered during a break in teh tentacles. "Somebody gonna get the kid? Or do we repay good help by letting it fall overboard?" He was really a little too busy at the moment, slashing skillfully at the next arm.
"Stay awake, if you can, please, Terasha. This is Zeke," the druid tried to tell his out-of-it patient. "If you can, tell me if this stings." He put an herb of some sort onto her wound.
She hissed, "Ow," quietly, all she could, but it was there. She couldn't tell what was going on, what she was doing. She still had that lingering falling sensation, but now there was hot and cold, never the same. It didn't take a rocket scientist to know that something was wrong.
"Good," Zeke said seriously, "then I know it's working." He put a few other concotions on her arm, then worked on wrapping it. Hopefully most of the poison would be drawn out. There were also painkillers and healing herbs in there. Nothing to help seal the gashes, yet, until all of the poison was gone. Otherwise she'd be a goner. "You can rest now. You're sealed up, and it'll help the plants to their work." It was always important, in times like they were, that any sort of healer knew how to work quickly.

"I don't know, but maybe." River said not sure what Terrance was thinking of. Either way they had no way to heat the ocean as Blue had pointed out.
Blue looked in the direction Blake had nodded and sighed. She ran over and grabbed the girl yanking her up and on bored before she could fall any further.
Dre was slashing at the thing unmercifully. He was in a blind rage much like Rhapsody had been in but he still had his brains so he struck where he would do damage.

"That's our chance, then!" She yelled. At least they were getting somewhere. Fear of heat, fear of heat. Look for a fear of heat, and we'll have it, she told herself, concentrating on the creature's mind. She needed even the tiniest bit of fear, that's what would do it.
"How many arms does this gods forsaken thing have, damn it?!" Blake yelled, slicing at yet another one. "It's like the thing that never stops grabbing."

"I'd rather not make a guess, just keep hacking." Blue said to Blake as she began to help him out slicing any arms that tried to grab her or Blake.
River was trying to talk with the beast again but it did no good, it was like it had no thought of it's own, just the need to kill them.

There! Terrace almost fainted with joy. Anyone who saw the smile on her face might think the girl a bit mad, even. She saw it, her mind to that of the sea monster. There was... a sort of darkness there. The way she always felt when confronting, when sensing the fear of another being. She called to it, drew it to her, tried to draw it out of the monster itself. That was how it became real, or at least to the creature. This thing seemed dim enough to believe something only in its mind. "I've got it," she yelled, tuning everything else out to concentrate.
