Mathis cocked her head to the side. "Well it looks as if I'm currently talking to you. And before that I was taking a nice swim," she made sure to mention the interruption, "But I suppose if you mean my purpose for being here in the first place, I've got none." Somewhere during the time she had dressed, now in a baggy tan shirt and brown skirt just above her knees. Her now dry blue-gray curls bounced a bit as she shrugged and pulled on a pair of boots.

"Well then I wish you luck with doing nothing. Personally I find it rather stressful but you seem to be able to do it well." Terenia said in jest, happy to meet such a funny girl.

"Truly, I'm observing you land people. You're all quite interesting. The more I meet the better. Though I've never met any quite like you before." She laced up her boots. This was going to take a while. No matter how long Mathis had been on land, she still didn't quite get the hand of knots.

"You need help with those?" Terenia said seeing the girl fumbling with her laces. "And I'm not sure wether that was a compliment of insult but I'll take it as a compliment. I've never meet anyone like you either, everybody else is so caught up in what's happening with the war and chaos all over the world, but you either don't care or don't know. It's nice to be around someone not tearing their hair out in worry."

"Personally I'm not sure what they're all angry about, but I heard a mage at Rementhos say that there were bugs in the tea or something started that whole bloody mess. A bit silly to starts a war over, don't you think? Anyway, I'm simply seeing the sights. For what I remember it's much different from being in the water. And I like to tell stories, and I like people to listen to them. This provides me with all I need, anyway." Mathis patted her sketchbook. She'd finally given up when the laces were in complete jumble. At least they would stay that way.

"Tell stories huh? What kinds?" Terenia asked interested and even let down her magic. She be making a bad decision but she really didn't think this girl was gonna suddenly try and kill her.

"Mostly about where I used to live. Uner the water. With the other merpeople," she nodded as if this confirmed such a thing, absently picking up her tools and sketching away.

"Sounds interesting but I've never been one to like stories about under water. I grew up in the desert and cannot understand the ways of the ocean at all. The two places are so different, yet very simular, always gave me a headache trying to think of them both."

"Headache, really? I've never gotten one of those before, at least that I remember. Perhaps you should try not to think so hard. In fact, maybe it's from remembering too much. Especially that long name of yours. Does everyone like you have a name that long?" There were so many things Mathis still didn't understand about silly ole land people.

"All Emon have pretty long names, we pride ourselves on how many titles we can add offically. Our greatest hero had a name that took 12 lines on a wide sheet of paper to write fully. Each part of our name is very important to us and these long names allow us to give our history with only saying our names. I am still young so I don't have practically any title offically yet. The Counicl of Titles is trying to see wether my streangth of magic is so great that it can become a title separate from the part about me being clan leader. I used to have titles relating to my family but when I became clan leader those were taken away. I don't think the headache is from remembering names though, that's the easiest part of my life. But it may be remembering other things that gives me a headache. I suppose you don't remember too much then? Since you've never had a headache?"

"Not too much, except what I remember about living underwater. And I'm bad with names. So I don't have to remember all those long names. Maybe you get a headache from something else, though. Tell me, do you hit your head on things often. Because I met this boy once, he used to hit his head on rocks, and he got a lot of headaches from that, he said."

"Really? What a surpirse. No I do not hit my head often and try to keep it from being hit at all. I would say that my headqches are mostly from the news I get from around the world and the divine realms. Too much of it is bad news"

"Well then, logically, don't ask for news! They do say, no news is good news. You can't have bad news if you've got no news at all. After all, I don't listen to the news. Not that I much care for any, anyhow. And so I don't have any headaches. Tada. Miracle cure." Mathis was now perched on a rock, kicking her legs back and forth beneath her, and sketching who-knows-what with her face about an inch from her little book.

"Wish it was that simple. Your a lucky girl to not here what's going on and take some advise, aviod the Dragon Lands. Go somewhere like the great plains." Terenia would hate to think of what would happen to this girl if she acidentally stumbled upon some hostile dragons. She sure didn't look like she could take care of herself.

"I've been there a lot. Really, I think I've seen the whole thing. After all, I had to go to the mages' school there once a year for the longest time. But I'm not going anymore. And I haven't travelled the whole northern continent yet. Plus I've made up my mind to visit the Pirate's Isles sometime. I've only been south once, and I didn't even go to Tyraan." Suddenly she stopped sketching. "There. Perfect. No, wait!" Mathis began scribbling friously over something.
