I still find their goals different. Sure, they seem to strive for a higher position. But key differences are there.
Firstly, Naruto wants to become Hokage in order to gain the respect he's never received. He'd do almost anything to obtain this position and so he increases his power and so on.
Raistlin Majere, on the other hand, wanted respect from others before he became corrupt with the dark ambitions he held within. many say Fistandantilus was the cause of this, I disagree. Raistlin had always wanted power, even at the age of 6! It states in The Soulforge how when Raistlin first met with the man who'd change his life (a white robed archmage named Antimodes), that the gods themselves seemed to tremble at what he had said.
... "And some day... Fat old innkeepers will bow down to me." At that note, Antimodes could feel the hand of the gods tremble...
Moving on, Raistlin no longer wanted respect in the position he wished to obtain. He wanted power and with that power, he wanted people to fear and revere him. He wanted to be worshiped as a god! Not as some mortal with vast powers which would die with him when he died.
So, if you see my reasonings, you'll know why I deem them different.

Ummm, you just said the same thing I said with fancier words which confuzzled me. Raistlin Majere, on the other hand, wanted respect from others before he became corrupt with the dark ambitions he held within, That's what you said about Raistlin and here is what you said about Naruto, Naruto wants to become Hokage in order to gain the respect he's never received. So your saying both of them want something they didn't have before any other forces came into play. Whahahahaha! I just used your own reasoning against you! But onto why I really came here to post, I just recently bought the first book of Dragons of a Falling Star and I wanted to know what you guys think about it if you've read it, but don't give anything away! You see it's right now kinda low on my to-read list, under all the Wheel of Time books which number in...12 or more and I'm about to finish two. So is this book good enough that I should put aside the Wheel books for now and read it first instead? Or leave it till I finish 10 or more books all more than 800 pages long (I think, it's a rough guess since the first one was 782 and the others all looked bigger than it.)

There are key differences about that nit-wit Naruto and the brilliant Rasitlin Majere. Comparing such greatness to such idiocy is still insulting enough.
None the less, I haven't read the War of the Souls yet... I'm still after te other books first ^_^;;

I never said their intelligence was the same, just their whole 'become the most powerful ____' thing. I read the Dragonlance books really randomly so though I should probaly start with the first ones I am instead jumping right from the Twins series to War of Souls. I guess I'll put it off till I finish this other series then since I find no reason not to. And I just finished the second book and the ending was a big cliff hanger which left me wanting to really hurry up and get the third book. The Wheel of Time series rocks! is the dragonlance book discussion, I must stay on topic.

Lol, I do suggest reading the books before the Twins series, they'll explain much about Raistlin and everyone else. And, to be honest, I hold a strick policy of not comparing anime characters to book-breed fictional characters... Its my tabboo XP

And I think you mean breed, not bread. Cause that would be kinda weird, book bread characters, yummy, but weird.

It's okay! And I think the idea of bread characters is good, I mean whenever they do something you can't believe they did you can bite of their heads off! Like teddy grams but better! *goes off to find more teddy grams she can decapitate*

Since when was anything wrong with that?
Technically all humans are sort of sick. In that respect. Because, you know. We like... make food in the shape of cute, fuzzy animals. Oo; And then eat them. Instead of shaping it like....... you know......... food.

As true as that is, its rather odd to enjoy decapitating something that really doesn't have a head...

Indeed...
To bring us back on track, I'm almost done reading "The Second Generation". So far, the book tells of Caramon's Sons (Tanin, Sturm and Palin), Tanis' Son (Gilthas), Sturm and Kitiara's child (Steel Uth Matar Brightblade), and Raistlin's daughter!
Sounds interesting no?
