River followed Terasha through the throng of merchants, tourists, shoppers, and theives. She was sure she had hit at least 5 people and tried to apologize but the crowd moved so swiftly that she had to keep moving to keep in sight of Terasha. When they got to the shop she was amazed by the variety and beauty of the jewels. "These are so beutiful." She said softly. She found one that she liked in particular. It was a necklace made with a very pale gold and sapphires. It was in two parts, a chain made of gold with sapphires imbedded in it every other link, and a pendant with a scene of the surface of the ocean in a storm. The sapphires shined like water and the gold seemed to have it's onw inner glow. She turned to the shopkeeper, "How much is this peice?" She asked, hoping she would have enough.

Terasha sighed. The piece was beautiful, but River would probably need her money, with all of the rogues that swarmed Micae. I'm getting too soft, and it's probably all Dre's fault. Truth be told, this woman was a part-time member of the Assassins Guild. When she wasn't working for them, she was working here.
The lady looked at Terasha, then at River. About to speak, she was interrupted by Terasha.
"Milan," Terasha sighed, "Just give it to the girl. Remind Dre, tell him you saw me with it, I'm sure he'll get you some." The King of Thieves' pocketbook was overflowing as it was. Why not have him pay for a jewel?
Milan smiled. Terasha knew she would overcharged the rogue, from the look on her face. "Dearie," she said cheerfully, "it'd look so lovely on you. It's on me."
On Dre, you mean, Terasha thought with a shake of her head and a laugh. Oh, what fun it'll be to explain this to him.

"Oh no! I couldn't do that!" River exclamimed. "That would be imposing far too much! Please I can pay!"River pulled out her purse and pulled out some pearls and old coins. "Though I don't know if I have the right currency." Naiads used certain kinds of shells for pay, the coins River had came from sunken ships the Naiads were constantly finding, especially in the Black Waters. Coins were considered artifacts to Naiads and were often given as gifts to those who decided to go up on land.

"Oh, hon, you should sell those to an old coin collector," Milan laughed. "Then you'd have some real money."
"Yeah," Terasha agreed, "Dre can pay for it. Besides, the currency isn't current." She looked closer at the coins. A look of horror crossed her face for a second, but it was quickly erased. "That's old Kurash money... from before," she whispered. Those were the sort of coins the hawk used to have to deal with. "The coin collector's not in today. He will be tommorrow, though, and if you're still around, he can give you some real money." Her smile didn't return.

"Well," Two voices struggled in River, she wanted the necklace but how could she impose so on the woman who had helped her? But she really wanted the necklace! "Well, alright, but I have to pay you back somehow!" River said finally. She would do anything Terasha asked of her!

"No need, though Dre might want you to the dishes for him or some such nonsense." She laughed. Hopefully River would get that it was a joke. "You have a place to stay? Or not?"

"But I couldn't impose on this Dre person so much!" River said close to a panic. She did this alot according to her friends, if she felt like she was imposing on someone, or being mean, or whatever, she would go into a panic of apologiving or protesting how she couldn't possibly do something like that. They also said she looked adorable when she did this but River had never agreed to that. "I have to do something to pay for this!"

"Don't worry so much. Dre's a very friendly guy. Besides, he's not around right now. You probably won't even see him," Terasha laughed. River's excitement about not being a burden had cheered her up. Once again, it reminded the hawk of her much younger self, among the Kurash. "Come on, you can't sleep in the streets!" She thought of all the bored and brawny men around. "If you're so bent on repaying people, I'm sure the innkeeper'll let you do an odd job or something for it. You can trade in those coins until tommorrow."

"Ummm, okay." River couldn't believe how nice everyone was here! "Terasha I will never be able to repay you for all you've done!"

Adeline, having nothing better to do, slipped into the local jewelry shop. She browsed, looking at the lovely pieces of jewelry she would probably never be able to afford. She could barely see the uppermost racks, and she felt even shorter than usual. She picked up a stunning necklace, placing it on her neck daintily. Looking in one of the mirrors, she smiled, before taking it off and putting it back.

"Oh, don't be so silly and dramatic," Terasha answered, keeping an eye on the girl who had just entered. A wolf, by the looks of it, beast-person, definitely. "We can look around some more if you like," she smiled, eyeing the jewels around her. She was so tempted to swipe one... or maybe two... but she would have to come back later for that.

Turning around to look at the other pieces she bumped into someone. She did that alot up on land. "I'm so sorry ma'm, I am so clumsy! Are you alright? I didn't hurt you did I?" River asked nervously. The person she bumped into was either a beast-person or a Kuresh. But die to the lack of marks River guessed beast-person. But wait! What if she was a Lycan! They were supposed to be incredibly dangerous!

Terasha shook her head. What a clutz! This was the same way she'd met River just hours ago. Already they were starting to become friends, unusual for an outcast like her. "You seem to do that a lot, River, " she commented. Yes, the Beast-Person was definitely lupine, no doubt about it. "Careful not to break any of Milan's precious merchandise," she said with a wink at the merchant, who shot the hawk an angry glare.

She yelped, her arms reeling to regain her balance. It failed, and she ended up on her butt. "Oh no, I'm fine. The floor broke my fall." She replied, smiling up at her. She grabbed one of the shelves, pulling herself up. They were taller than her, like usual, but she wouldn't think about that right now. "My name's Adeline, if you're interested." She said, holding out her hand.

"Yes! I'll be more careful from now on!" River said. It was so hard though, here on land she was so heavy, and sometimes she tried to swim upward only to realize that on land gravity had more power than in the water. Realizing the woman she had bumped into was speaking she turned to her. "My name is River Seacurrent! It's very nice to meet you Adeline!" She shook the girls hand.
